What we do

Good websites, minus the faff.

No bloated page builders and no plugins to babysit. Just hand-built sites that load fast, rank well and make it dead easy for customers to get in touch.

01

Website rebuilds

Your old WordPress or page-builder site, rebuilt from the ground up. We carry across the content that earns its keep, drop the clutter, and give it a design that actually looks like your business.

  • Content kept
  • Old links redirected
  • Same domain
02

New websites

Starting from scratch? We'll write, design and build a site around how your customers actually find and contact you, with your real photos front and centre.

  • Copywriting
  • Custom design
  • Mobile-first
03

Hack recovery

Site been hijacked with spam pages? We salvage the genuine content and rebuild it as plain static files, so there's no login, database or plugin left for anyone to break into.

  • Spam stripped
  • No plugins
  • Nothing to patch
04

Found on Google

Structured data, sitemaps, share cards and redirects done properly, so Google understands who you are and where you work, and the rankings you've already built carry across.

  • Local SEO
  • Search Console
  • Rich results
Larger local businesses

Bigger operation? We've got room for that.

Running a few crews, several branches or a busy front office? You need more than a five-page site: pages for every service and town, enquiries that reach the right person, and a site that keeps up as you grow.

Talk about a bigger site
  • Every branch and town covered

A page for each location or service area, with its own hours, map and Google business details, so you show up wherever you work.

  • Enquiries to the right person

Quote requests, bookings and job applications each go straight to the inbox that handles them, instead of one catch-all.

  • Team and careers pages

Introduce your people and make hiring easier, with roles listed in a way that actually gets read.

  • Works with your tools

Link or embed the booking, quoting or job management systems you already use, so the website fits how you run things.

  • Beyond a brochure site

Need member logins, a directory, a customer portal or content your staff can update? We build database-backed web apps too.

  • Fast at any size

Fifty pages load as quickly as five. Every page is built ahead of time, so growth never slows the site down.

Recent work

Real businesses, rebuilt properly.

Every site gets its own design system, built around the business and its real photos. Here are a few we've done lately.

From hacked to bulletproof

Trees DONE's WordPress site had been hacked and stuffed with spam pages selling software cracks. We pulled out only the genuine arborist content and rebuilt it as a static site that has nothing left to hack.

  • Spam pages gone, real content kept and tidied
  • Twelve pages: services, team, equipment, gallery, testimonials
  • Old WordPress addresses redirect to their new home

A specialist that looks the part

Brent installs rangehoods across the Western Bay of Plenty, often the jobs other people won't touch. His new site leads with him, explains the tricky stuff plainly, and makes getting a quote easy.

  • Buyer's guide, advice and manufacturer pages
  • Quote form with spam protection built in
  • Local business details set up for Google

Every trip, its own page

Amanda runs door-to-door day trips, mini breaks and coffee mornings for retired people. The rebuild gives every past adventure its own page and photo gallery, so new customers can see exactly what they're signing up for.

  • A page and photo gallery for every past trip
  • Monthly itineraries ready to download
  • Warm, readable design for an older audience

Real work, not stock photos

Philip's old site was a template kit still full of lorem ipsum, a stock-photo 'team' and made-up testimonials. We threw all that out and built a lean site around his actual job photos.

  • Template filler removed completely
  • His own felling and milling photos throughout
  • Service areas from Pukekohe to Te Puke spelled out
Why static

Less to go wrong.

Most small business sites run on WordPress, which is a lot of machinery for a handful of pages. We build lean sites that do the same job without the upkeep.

Your old site Typical

  • Plugins and themes that need updating, or else
  • A login page and database that attract hackers
  • Slow page loads, especially on mobile
  • Surprise bills for plugins, themes and fixes
  • Page builders that fight you on every change

A Number8WebWorks site Built right

  • No plugins, no updates, nothing to patch
  • Plain files, so there's no login to break into
  • Loads fast on any phone, even in the wop-wops
  • One flat monthly fee for hosting and maintenance
  • Clean code we can change quickly when you need it

Questions

Fair questions.

The things people usually ask before switching. If yours isn't here, just ask.

Will I lose my Google ranking if I change websites?

Not if it's done properly. Every old page address is redirected to its new equivalent, so links people have bookmarked and the pages Google already knows about keep working. We also submit your new sitemap to Google Search Console.

Can I keep my domain name and email?

Yes. Your domain stays yours, and we only change where the website part points. Your email carries on as it is.

What's a static website, and why does it matter?

It's a site made of ready-built pages rather than ones assembled by a database every time someone visits. That makes it much faster, and because there's no admin login or plugins, there's very little for a hacker to attack.

My site's been hacked. Can you help?

Yes. We've done exactly this before. We rescue the genuine content from the hacked site, leave the spam behind, and rebuild it so the same thing can't happen again.

Do you only work with small businesses?

No. Plenty of our work is for owner-operators, but we also build for established local businesses with staff, several branches or a wide service area. Bigger sites get the same fast, secure build, just with more pages and more going on behind the scenes.

How do I make changes once it's live?

Send us an email with what you'd like changed. Because the site is clean and simple, most updates are quick for us to make.

How much does it cost?

For small businesses and clubs, a site rebuild is $295 plus GST, and hosting and maintenance is $30 plus GST a month. We often run promotions, so get in touch to see what's on. Larger websites are quoted to suit the job.
